Georgia teachers now have to wait to see if they will have a job next year. Gov. Sonny Perdue signed a law into bill this week giving school districts an extra month before offering new contracts. The deadline for educator contracts are May 15. The move will allow more flexibility for moves and cuts.
The previous deadline of April had school officials worried about the amount of money they would get when the new budget comes out.
The new law will stay into effect through 2013.
