JUST DAYS AFTER THE THREE WEEK MURDER TRIAL OF SAM PARKER CONCLUDED WITH A CONVICTION ON MURDER CHARGES… PAPERS HAVE BEEN FILED REQUESTING A NEW TRIAL. PUBLIC DEFENDER DAVID DUNN FILED THE MOTION FOR A SECOND TRIAL IN WALKER COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT ON TUESDAY. PARKER, A FORMER POLICE OFFICER, WAS CONVICTED OF MURDERING HIS WIFE, THERESA, IN THE MIDST OF A 2007 DIVORCE. HER BODY HAS NEVER BEEN LOCATED. IT TOOK THE JURY, BROUGHT-IN FROM BARTOW COUNTY, ALMOST 24 HOURS OF DELIBERATION TO REACH THE GUILTY VERDICT ON MALICE MURDER. PARKER WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON. AT THE END OF THE FIRST TRIAL, ATTORNEY DUNN SAID THAT IF HIS CLIENT IS NOT GRANTED A NEW TRIAL, HE WILL APPEAL TO THE GEORGIA SUPREME COURT.
