THE VOTE WAS EXTREMELY CLOSE… BUT BY A SCANT 22 VOTES, LAFAYETTE SAID ‘NO’ TO LIQUOR BY THE DRINK IN THE NOVEMBER THIRD REFERENDUM.  THE VOTE:  NO 494 – YES 472.                                 

THREE LAFAYETTE INCUMBENTS WILL REMAIN IN OFFICE… BUT THERE WILL BE A NEW CITY JUDGE IN JANUARY.  KENNETH MAPLES BEAT BARRY HOLLIS BY A 52% MARGIN TO WIN THE CITY JUDGE RACE.                               

THE LARGEST-MARGIN WIN IN LAFAYETTE’S ELECTION WAS MAYOR NEAL FLORENCE… WHO BEAT CHALLENGER JAMES MASHBURN BY 68%.  INCUMBENTS WON BOTH CITY COUNCIL RACES… NORM HODGE BY 57% – AND ANDY ARNOLD BY 52%.
