Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told members of the Chattooga County Democratic Party on Monday evening that while North Georgia did not receive much money from the Federal Stimulus package in the first round of funding, there is still the opportunity to get in on some of the federal money in the next two rounds of funding that are coming up. Winters stated that not only Chattooga County but also Floyd County received no federal money from the first round of funding and Catoosa and Walker Counties received very small amounts compared to areas of South Georgia. By June 2 another $150 million will be up for bid for road projects and then another $400 million this fall.  D.O.T. spokesman David Spear stated that the Georgia D.O.T. is putting out bids next week for $111 million in road work that was approved from the first round of stimulus funding.
