The TVA plans to increase electricity rates starting July 1st reportedly to offset the increasing costs of coal and the affects of the drought.  Reports indicate that most customers, including those served by the North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation in Chattooga County will see an average increase of $1 to $3 more per month after July 1st.  TVA had just raised their rates by over 12% in April.  That was the biggest single increase in power rates in over 20 years.
