Software from Rome’s CCH Small Firm Services has again been chosen as the program used by IRS employees and volunteers to prepare and electronically file tax returns for millions of low-income, elderly and limited-English proficient taxpayers.

This is the 15th consecutive year that the TaxWise software has won this contract.

The software was selected following an open, two-year competition involving several software publishers. The five-year contract award (one year with four one-year renewal options) covers approximately 10,000 IRS-supported locations as well as IRS-operated Taxpayer Assistance Centers. TaxWise is also provided to IRS employees for preparation and e-filing of their personal tax returns.

All together, more than 3 million federal and 2 million state returns were prepared and filed in 2009 under the IRS contract.

CCH, located at 6 Mathis Drive in Rome, provides tax and business law information and software solutions.
