Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has signed off  on a $3 million proposal that would build a campus for Northwestern Technical College in Catoosa County.

State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) told local media that funds for the $21 million project are now allotted in the state’s budget. The state is currently investing $3 million from that fund into the first phase, which is engineering and clearing land.

The 65,000-square-foot satellite campus will be at Dietz and Cloud Springs roads in Fort Oglethorpe.

Northwestern offiicials say that the campus will focus on training workers for the automotive industry in conjunction with the Volkswagon Plant that is being built in Chattanooga.
