Floyd County offiicals met with local law makers yesterday to plead with them not to cut funding to the state’s mental facilities, one of which is located in Rome.

This comes after word that the state is considering cutting mental health funding which could mean the closing of some mental health facilities across the state.  Floyd County officials warned state lawmakers that cuts to mental health funding could mean that county jails become the place mental patients are housed.

The comments came at a breakfest held with lawmakers yesterday morning to discuss the upcoming legislative year in the General Assembly.
