A one car accident in the Holland area sent a man to the hospital according to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Ralph Kellett told AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News that the accident occured on Sunday evening  when a vehicle driven by James Melvin Bentley ran off the roadway and struck a tree.  Apparently Bentley went to a private residence before officers were able to find the scene of the accident.

Bentley was later taken first to the Cherokee Medical Center in Centre, AL and then transported to Floyd County.  It is not clear what transpired from the time he was taken to the hospital in Centre to the time he was sent to Floyd County.  However, Bentley was taken to the Floyd County Jail and held for Chattooga County.  The Georgia State Patrol will be bringing charges against Bentley.
