State Representative Barbara Massey Reece reported that the Georgia House passed a bill this week that would affect overseas absentee ballots cast in Georgia elections. Reece said that the bill – House Bill 665 – provides for a pilot program for the 2012 general primary and general election for the electronic transmission of absentee ballots by military and overseas citizens. Implementation of its provisions is subject to the availability of funding.

AM 1180 also asked Ms. Reece about the bill before the house that would do away with electronic voting machines.  Reece did not say how she would vote on the bill – however she did say that she favors some sort of "paper trail" for voters.  Reece said that many elderly residents are still intimidated by the electronic voting machines.
