There was a packed house Monday evening at the Trion Town Hall as residents interested in the future of the Park Avenue Apartments came for an informational meeting.
Apartment owners and renters heard from several sources regarding the future of the apartments which have been flooded numerous times over the years. FEMA has indicated to the Town of Trion that funds will be available if the Apartments meet the criteria for the town to purchase the complexes and destroy them. There has been talk of creating a "green space" in their place that would be used by the town for such things as ball fields.
At tonight’s Trion Town Council meeting, the council is expected to approve the hiring of an Atlanta area firm to do the assesments necessary to proceed with the plan outlined by FEMA for the town to purchase the apartments. Also another meeting on the Park Avenue Apartments has been scheduled for March 4th.
The Trion Town Council will meet this evening at 6 PM at the Trion Town Hall Conference Room.
