THE PROSECUTION RESTED IT’S CASE AGAINST SAM PARKER THURSDAY – AND THERE IS SOME SPECULATION THAT THE DEFENDANT MAY SOON TAKE THE STAND IN HIS OWN DEFENSE.
TESTIMONY THURSDAY CAME FROM THERESA PARKER’S TWO SISTERS… WHO TOLD STORIES ABOUT HER LONG-TROUBLED MARRIAGE. MRS. PARKER HAS BEEN MISSING FOR TWO YEARS – AND HER HUSBAND, SAM… IS ON TRIAL FOR HER MURDER IN WALKER COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT. HILDA WILSON RECALLED A 2002 INCIDENT IN WHICH THERESA CAME HOME TO FIND THAT SAM HAD THROWN ALL OF HER BELONGS OUTSIDE IN THE YARD OF THEIR HOME. WILSON SAID SAM PARKER WAS ACCUSING HIS WIFE OF HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A 9-1-1 CO-WORKER AT THE TIME. SHE SAID THERESA STAYED AT HER HOME FOR A WHILE FOLLOWING THAT ALTERCATION. ON ANOTHER OCCASION IN FLORIDA, SHE TESTIFIED THAT SAM WAS INVOLVED IN AN ALTERCATION IN A RESTAURANT. HE FOLLOWED THERESA OUTSIDE TO THE CAR, WHERE HE PULLED A GUN AND FIRED IT – TELLING HER HE WAS GOING TO HANDCUFF HIMSELF TO HER AND KILL HIMSELF.
POLICE WERE SUMMONED AND PARKER SPENT SOME TIME IN A MENTAL FACILITY AFTER THAT INCIDENT. MRS. WILSON SAID THAT WHEN SAM CAME HOME, HE PRESSURED THERESA TO RETURN TO THE HOUSE BY "THREATENING HER PET DOGS AND CATS". EVENTUALLY, SHE DID RETURN TO LIVE THERE.
THE SAM PARKER MURDER TRIAL CONTINUES TODAY IN WALKER COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT.
