Today the area chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness will hear  from a member of a team that will help patients after Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital closes.

Dr. Allen Parks, the senior vice president of operations for Anka Behavioral Health, will speak at the monthly education meeting of the Rome NAMI chapter beginning at 6 p.m. at Rome First United Methodist Church on East Third Avenue.

The California-based company has been contracted to assist with community services for the mentally ill after the hospital closes on Sept. 30. The hospital, which had been set to close on June 30, was granted a 90-day extension by Gov. Nathan Deal earlier this month.
