After holding off the proponents of adults wearing seat-belts in pickup trucks for many years, in fact over a decade, it would seem those who want everyone to buckle up finally have their victory in Georgia.
The Georgia House passed a bill yesterday that will make Georgia come in line with the rest of the nation regarding seatbelts in pickup trucks. The measure has been brought up in every legislative session for the past ten years. Several years ago only a handful of states had the pickup truck exemption for seatbelts. The number dwindled over the years and then Indiana finally passed a seatbelt for pickup law leaving Georgia as the lone hold-out.
Yesterday a bill passed the House that had already cleared the Senate and now goes to the Governor for his signature that will require everyone in pickups to buckle up.
