The owner of the Pit Bull that mauled an 8 year old girl on Lookout Mountain in Walker County has been charged for not having a record of rabies vaccination on the pit bull. The girl who lived on Highway 157 went into a neighbor’s yard and attempted to retrieve her small dog which was being attacked by the pit bull. The girl received extensive injuries and later underwent surgery at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga. The owner of the pit bull shot and killed the dog before Walker County Sheriff’s Deputies and Animal Control arrived. Because the owner killed the dog, rabies tests are inconclusive. The girl will now have to undergo a series of painful rabies shots as a precaution. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said it was the worst dog attack he had ever seen.
