Plans to build a Hotel and Conference Center on Lookout Mountain in Walker County appear to have come to a standstill after bonds to fund the project failed to sell.
The bonds which were offered with a lowered interest rate through the federal stimulus program failed to sell by the required deadline, affectively halting the project.
The Walker County Development Authority issued the bonds after receiving a $15 million stimulus grant from the State of Georgia. However, the issue is not dead – the state has agreed to hold the funds pending the possibility of Congress extending the deadlines for stimulus projects.
