PlyMart on U.S. 27 in Rock Spring officially closed its doors Monday. A sign posted on the main door of the store called the closing "indefinite."

PlyMart officials have not commented on the closing of the Walker County business formerly known as John T Hardware.  In 2005, construction of a $500,000 rail spur to accommodate the PlyMart facility and other businesses in the Rock Spring area was completed. About $160,000 of the spur’s cost was paid for with a federal Appalachian Regional Commission grant. The remainder was paid with special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST, proceeds and grants from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

According to information obtained by Chattooga Radio News the closing came as a complete surprise to the employees of the store.
