The Polk County Board of Commissioners said that a relocation of the county`s courthouse and administration building is part of a proposed master plan. Both buildings would be moved to county-owned property at the corner of Hwy 278 and the Cedartown Bypass. A county manager said the advantage would be that the new courthouse would have a connecting point leading to the jail.
The complex would occupy what is now being used by the 911 Center, Department of Driver Safety and the Public Works Department.
The police department would also be relocated property next to the Georgia State Patrol building.
