The Cherokee County Narcotics Unit along with The Alabama Bureau of Investigation (Raid Team), Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control, and the Cherokee County Deputies conducted marijuana eradication last week in Cherokee County. A total of six thousand four hundred and eighty eight (6,488) marijuana plants were recovered throughout Cherokee County last week, a significant rise in plant numbers from the previous two years.

Most of the plants were in excess of five feet tall with some of the plants reaching eight feet in the air. CNU Agents along with ABI burned over five thousand plants on Thursday June 5th 2008 at an undisclosed location. An additional 1000 marijuana plants were recovered and burned on Friday June 6th 2008. Each plant is valued at $2000.00.
