President Barack Obama has nominated Sally Quillian Yates to serve as the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
Yates has been the acting U.S. attorney for the region since her predecessor, David Nahmias, resigned after he was appointed to Georgia’s Supreme Court in August.
Yates has worked in the office since 1989, including stints as the chief of the fraud and corruption unit. She was previously an associate at the Atlanta law firm King & Spalding.
Yates said “it would be a great privilege to serve the people of the Northern District as U.S. attorney.”
