AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio reported yesterday about Senator Jeff Mullis’ trip with Governor Sonny Perdue overseas.  Yesterday the Senate Press Office Released this statement:

ATLANTA (September 30, 2008) – As Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) will join Governor Sonny Perdue’s economic development mission to Europe to meet with economic development prospects as well as visit some of the world’s top companies in transportation infrastructure and financing.

“I am honored to join Governor Perdue in this important mission to recruit new jobs to Georgia and also explore transportation alternatives that may benefit our state greatly,” said Sen. Mullis.  “I look forward to playing a vital role in continuing our efforts to recruit new jobs to all of Georgia, but especially northwest Georgia, and promoting a better transportation system across our great state.”

The mission left from Atlanta on September 27 and will return October 3 and includes stops in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon and Milan.  Sen. Mullis will pay for his expenses and not utilize any tax dollars.  

Also joining the mission are Commissioner Ken Stewart of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Commissioner Gena Evans of the Georgia Department of Transportation, Executive Director Dick Anderson of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, and House Transportation Committee Chairman Vance Smith.
