Primary elections will be held next Tuesday for a host of state-wide offices and several local offices.  Seven Democrats and seven Republicans are running for Governor in Georgia, which almost certainly insures a run-off election which will be held in August.

Locally, there are three school board positions being contested on the Democratic ballot and the 53rd State Senate District Race will be decided on the Republican ballot.  State Senator Jeff Mullis is facing opposition on the Republican ticket from Walker County resident Jim Pope and Catoosa County resident Jeremy Jones.

Early voting has been light in Chattooga County.  At last report, the Chattooga County Registrar’s office said that only around 135 people have voted early in the Primary Elections.  Polls will be open next week at all normal polling places throughout the county according to Judge Jon Payne, Chattooga County Election’s Superintendent.  Polls will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM next Tuesday, July 20th.
