A collaberative effort between several organizations and government agencies to build an Ag Center in Chattooga County is underway. The proposed Ag Center would be built across from the Chattooga County Board of Education Office, just off Highway 100 on Middle School Drive.
Those participating in the project are the Chattooga County Commissioner, Chattooga County School System, The Cooperative Extension, Chattooga Young Farmers, the Chattooga County Farm Bureau and the Chattooga County FFA.
Currently there is no facility in the county for a large group of people to gather. The proposed Ag Center would provide a 9,000 sqare feet facility for livestock shows and other events in the county.
Securing funding for the proposed center is the major challenge. Already the Chattooga County Board of Education has agreed to provide the land for the venture and the Chattooga County Farm Bureau has agreed to a donation of $10,000 towards the project.
