During the Chattooga County political forum on Tuesday evening the question was asked of both county commissioner candidates, Jason Winters and Joe Reed, if they would consider appointing someone to the Water Board in Chattooga County who did not currently have water service at their own home.
Candidate Joe Reed said that he thought that water board members had to be in the current water district in order to serve on the board. Joe Reed told AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News on Wednsday that if the by-laws could be changed he would consider the idea. Candidate Jason Winters said that by-laws were designed so that they could be changed and if that were the case he would consider making such an appointment.
AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio talked with County Attorney Chris Corbin on Wednesday morning who is looking into the situation to see if the by-laws have such a restriction on water board appointees.
To hear the entire political forum, tune in to AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio on Thursday evening at 6 PM.
