Questions have been raised about Chattooga County receiving Federal Stimulus money for bridge repair and road improvement.  In a recent report in area papers Chattooga County was noticeably absent from a list of counties receiving federal stimulus money for road and bridge repair and improvement.

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that the county has applied for federal stimulus money and said that while the county did not receive any funding during the first round of stimulus money, that he expects that to change when future stimulus money is released by the federal government.

Winters pointed out that the applications for federal stimulus money began as early as December when former Commissioner Mike Dawson began the process of applying for the stimulus.  Over the next several days AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will report on the various projects that have been applied for by Chattooga County.

It should be noted that the surrounding counties that did receive money during the first round of stimulus funding received money for single projects that did not total a large amount of money.
