GEORGIA DOT CREWS WILL BE WORKING ON SOME RAILROAD CROSSINGS IN LAFAYETTE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY… AND DETOURS CAN BE EXPECTED.
A DETOUR OFF OF HIGHWAY 337 WILL GO TO HIGHWAY 27, TO 193… AND ON TO SOUTH CHATTANOOGA STREET. EXPECT THAT DETOUR FROM 8:30 AM UNTIL 4 PM, TOMORROW AND THURSDAY.
"WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY 337 AT THIS LOCATION MAY CAUSE SOME INCONVENIENCE, BUT IT IS NECESSARY FOR UPGRADING THE CROSSING"… ACCORDING TO DOT DISTRICT ENGINEER KENT SAGER. "UPON COMPLETION, THE UPGRADING OF THE RAIL CROSSING WILL IMPROVE THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC IN THE AREA, MAKE IT SAFER AND HELP THE PUBLIC GET WHERE THEY NEED TO GO IN WALKER COUNTY", HE SAID.
THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN WORKING ON IMPROVING GRADE CROSSINGS ALL ALONG THE CHATTOOGA AND CHICKAMAUGA RAILWAY, FROM ROSSVILLE… THROUGH TO LYERLY IN CHATTOOGA COUNTY.
