A rash of thefts from autos is prompting LaFayette police to urge citizens to be on the lookout for suspicious be-havior.
According to LaFayette Police detective Stacey Meeks, within the past few weeks 12-15 thefts from autos have occurred in the areas of Pledger Street and Pledger Parkway, First Street, Park Street, Oakridge Estates and Dog-wood Circle.
The suspects are moving on foot through the areas and targeting unlocked vehicles, Meeks said.
“I want to advise residents to keep their vehicles locked and remove all of their valuables from their vehicles,” Meeks said.
According to Meeks, numerous and various items have been reported stolen, including GPS systems, firearms, money and electronic equipment.
