The American Red Cross continues to provide disaster relief to families in Trion, Georgia following the flooding of last week. Almost 2,000 meals have been served with the help of the Southern Baptist Covention. It is expected that meals will continue to be provided through Sunday, October 4th.
Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing services to flood victims at the Trion United Methodist Church located at 810 Pine Street in Trion between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Red Cross volunteers will also be out in the affected areas providing assistance and answering questions. Families affected by the flooding should be prepared to bring some kind of identification such as a picture ID or a utility bill – anything that would include their name and pre-disaster address.
Individuals can help people affected by disasters like the recent flooding by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. Your gift enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of all disasters.
