Governor Nathan Deal stated over the weekend that he would not support the idea of casino gambling in Georgia.  The statement came after a study was released showing that casino gambling would have a $1 billion annual impact on Georgia’s economy.

State Representative Barbara Massey Reece is also doubtful that the idea of casino gambling would play well in Georgia, and even what kind of impact casino gambling would have on the state.  Reece told the Rome News Tribune over the weekend "Anyone knows that would be a revenue source,” Reece said. “But whether it would be a positive impact on the state as a whole, or the budget as a whole, remains to be seen.”

Without substantial support in the state legislature and with the governor refusing to back the idea it would appear the casino gambling won’t be coming to Georgia anytime soon.
