State Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee) who represents all of Chattooga County and a large portion of Chattooga County in the Georgia House of Representatives, took over as chairman of the House Insurance Committee and spent the weekend moving into his new office in the Capitol Building in Atlanta.
Lumsden actually held his first meeting as chairman of the committee last week during a joint-meeting with the Special Committee on Access to Quality Health Care. The joint meeting covered factors that affect the price of medication, and he’s expecting legislation addressing pharmacy benefits management. He also met with Insurance Commissioner John King and his staff to go over other outstanding issues.
Lumsden also said that he is carrying a bill for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation this session. The purpose of the bill is to clarify its authority over cyber-crimes. Also Lumsden plans to introduce a bill to ensure school boards can discuss their emergency response safety plans in closed sessions.
