Despite the dreary weather, there was a good turn out for the newest business in downtown Summerville on Friday as North Georgia Equipment Sales celebrated its Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  Throughout the day there were many Chattooga County residents that came by to wish the business success in Summerville. NGES closed the store in Floyd County and moved it to Summerville.

The decision to move to Chattooga County came about due to a pro-small business atittude from local county and city officials according to NGES owners.  The owners said that Commissioner Jason Winters, Chattooga Chamber Director David Tidmore, Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey and Summerville City Manager Russell Thompson have all worked with the company to relocate.

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters expressed his appreciation to the store owners for the decision to re-locate from Floyd County to Summerville.  Mayor Harry Harvey said that the City of Summerville was extremely happy to have the businees located in the downtown area.

Chattooga County 4H and advisors Rebecca Thomas and Susan Locklear were on hand to provide refreshements for the event.

North Georgia Equipment Sales began in Armuchee, Georgia eleven years ago and was started by Jimmy Holbrook and Jeff Blalock.  In September of 2011 the company opened a location in Rock Spring, Georgia that is still in operation.  Chris Drury, who has worked as Branson Tractor LLC’s National Service Manager came on as a partner in 2003.

North Georgia Equipment Sales has been selling Branson Tractors since 2000 and out of over 200 dealers nation-wide is one of the oldest Branson Tractor dealers in the nation.  The company also sells Husqvarna Outdoor Power Equipment, Woods Farm and Landscape Equipment, LMC Equipment, Taylorway Equipment and Grasshopper Mowers.

The company employees mechanics at both locations and works on all makes and models of tractors and outdoor power equipment.  Dewayne Chamlee at the Rock Spring location worked for Branson Tractors LLC before coming to work for NGES and Richard Hoff at the Summerville location has over 25 years experience in heavy equipment and tractor repair.

Owner Jimmy Holbrook lives in Chattooga County at Cloudland and Jeff Blalock lives on the "outskirts of Berryton" in Summerville.  Chris Drury lives at Cloudland right across the line in Walker County.  One statement can sum up the owners of North Georgia Equipment Sale’s decision to re-locate the Floyd County store to Summerville:  "We’re glad to be Home!"
