Earlier this week AM 1180 Chattooga Radio news spoke with one of the supervisors that are installing the new water lines on Highway 157 in the Cloudland area. Workers are experiencing problems drilling through the rock on Lookout Mountain. A cutting wheel was brought in from Texas to bore through the rock and is not working as well as the installers would like. Already the installers have used nearly a pallet of the teeth that fit the cutting wheel and still have a lot of water line to put in. Blasting may have to be a resort to install the water line at Cloudland. Residents on Highway 157 are concerned that if blasting is necessary it may affect their current wells.
