The appeals process for a former Rome police officer was finalized earlier this week. However police, due to departmental policy, are still remaining mum in regards to the circumstances of his resignation.
Keith Green appealed his termination from the department and during the process requested that either he be allowed to resume his job as a police officer or be allowed to resign in lieu of termination.
He was allowed to resign in lieu of termination Chief Hubert Smith said on Thursday. The formal appeal process was completed Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Green was most recently a veteran patrol officer but also worked as a school resource officer.
The Rome Police Department’s policy is to allow 10 days after an investigation and appeals process is completed before releasing information about the termination, Deputy Chief Lonzo Roberson said.
