A carload of teens got a big scare in Rome after giving employees of a Rome McDonald’s a scare of their own. According to reports Rome Police originally got the call that a vehicle full of teens had fired several gunshots while in the process of ordering in the drive-thru, and that employees were trying to keep them there by having the teens pull forward and wait for their order to be brought out. This gave police time to respond. Police arrived and surrounded the vehicle in the parking lot, and believing that the teens were armed, officers pulled them out one-by-one at gunpoint. It wasn’t until searching the vehicle that Police realized the teens had simply thrown firecrackers out at the drive-thru speaker, and that employees had mistaken those fireworks for gunshots. One of the teens was charged with possession of the firecrackers and the driver was charged with unspecified traffic offenses.
