The Summerville News is reporting that sales tax collections in Chattooga County are up. In fact the county received a check for $263,910.74 for sales taxes collected in the month of September. According to Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters that is the fourth largest sales tax collection in six years and the largest since February of 2007.
Spending has increased by 10% since the first quarter of this year in Chattooga County. Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told The Summerville News that attributing the increase in collections to one specific reason would be risky and that he is still being cautious and is waiting to see what collections look like in October.
