AN ADMINISTRATOR AT GILBERT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LAFAYETTE WAS STABBED BY AN EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED STUDENT TUESDAY MORNING.  THE ADMINISTRATOR WAS TREATED AND RELEASED AT A LOCAL DOCTOR’S OFFICE.

THE STUDENT HAD BEEN BROUGHT TO THE OFFICE BECAUSE OF BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS, WHEN THE STABBING OCCURRED.  A KNIFE WAS ACCESSED WHEN THE CHILD RAN INTO AN OFFICE KITCHEN.   WHEN THE ADMINISTRATOR TRIED TO TAKE THE KNIFE AWAY FROM THE STUDENT, HE RECEIVED A SMALL PUNCTURE WOUND TO THE LOWER LEG.

LAFAYETTE POLICE AND WALKER DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND CHILDREN SERVICES AGENTS RESPONDED – AND THE CHILD WAS TAKEN FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION.  LAFAYETTE POLICE SAY THAT GILBERT STUDENTS WERE NEVER ENDANGERED DURING THE INCIDENT… AS IT WAS CONTAINED IN THE OFFICE AREA.
