The Chattooga County Board of Education voted on Monday evening to approve a four day school week for students in Chattooga County. (see related story at link below).
The idea of a four day week has met with the approval of most Chattooga County School District teachers who believe that without the four day school week there would be larger class sizes. Teachers have told AM 1180 that they believe a four day school week would provide a better education for students than having up to 40 children in a classroom.
The board approved the motion for the four day school week by a vote of 3-2 with Board Members "Fuzz" Anderson and "Dot" Johnson voting against the four day calendar. Neither Anderson nor Johnson are seeking re-election to the Chattooga County School Board.
The board also approved keeping the Chattooga High School Chorus teacher on a part time basis at the meeting.
Within the next few days Dr. Pullen will develop a school calendar based on a four day school week.
