Yesterday the Georgia State Senate passed a bill that would require drivers and passengers to wear seatbelts in pickup trucks. The state of Georgia has up until this point, always resisted the effort to require seatbelt use in pickup trucks.
If the measure clears the House and is signed into law by the governor it would mean more federal highway dollars for the state. In the past the measure has always stalled in the house over concerns about pickups and other trucks used by farmers.
