The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a second body has been found in the Chattooga River. Sheriff John Everett told AM 1180 on Friday evening that the body was found near Penn Bridge off of Penn Bridge Road across from the Selman residence. Emergency workers and sheriff’s personell retrieved the body from the Chattooga River late Friday evening.
Chattooga County Coroner Earl Rainwater was on the scene along with search and rescue crews and Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett. The body is being taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for identification. No word if the body was a male or a female. The body was discovered by three boaters floating down the Chattooga River. Sheriff John Everett said it appears the body was in the water from some time.
