THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR… CATOOSA COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA WESTERN CHATTOOGA COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA DADE COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA EXTREME WEST CENTRAL FLOYD COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA WALKER COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA WEST CENTRAL WHITFIELD COUNTY IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA

* UNTIL 615 PM EDT

* AT 1214 PM EDT… NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN MOVING THROUGH DADE COUNTY. THE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT 20 MILES AN HOUR AND WERE TRAINING OVER THEMSELVES. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES HAS OCCURRED SINCE 9 AM. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED IN EXTREME NORTHWEST GEORGIA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS IS LIKELY.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO RINGGOLD… FORT OGLETHORPE… ROSSVILLE AND LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY… THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS… RIVERS… OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR CREEKS.
