Despite the inclement, rainy weather on Saturday a good number of folks turned out for the first ever Lyerly Severe Weather Awareness Day.  The event was held in part to let folks know about the new tornado siren that was recently installed in Lyerly and as a fund raiser for the Lyerly Fire Department.  The Fire Department was on hand selling BBQ plates to raise money for the department. AM 1180 broadcast live from the event and gave out three free weather radios to listeners that registered the day of the event. Lyerly Mayor Jessica Eller said that the town hopes to make Severe Weather Awareness Day an annual event.
