Shaw Industries, one of Northwest Georgia’s largest manufacturers, announced that they will be closing another carpet plant "in the very new future."

The announcement means that 270 employees will be laid-off due to the closing of Shaw Plant 20 which is located in Dalton.

Company spokesman Al Scruggs said Plant 20 in Dalton, which produces residential carpet, would continue to operate for about 60 days. He said employees were notified this morning.

A news release said production from the plant would be shifted to other facilities. It also states the decision to close Plant 20 does not reflect on the employees’ performance. The release pledged to help employees find other jobs within the company.
