Shaw Industries announced Thursday it will scale back operations, affecting about 3 percent of its more than 15,000 employees, or more than 450, at its facilities throughout Northwest Georgia.

 

Shaw Industries has a plant in Chickamauga.

 

Paul Richard, vice president of human resources, said layoffs will happen between now and the end of the year at the Chickamauga plant, as well as at four plants in Dalton and one in Eaton. Some will be done immediately and some by attrition, he said.

 

Earlier this month, the Dalton-based flooring manufacturer said it would close its Trenton facility, laying off 440 workers.
