After announcing last week that Shaw Industries will cut their workforce by 3%, the carpet manufacturer is now saying that they may shut down plants across north Georgia for longer periods of time during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday season.
Normally Shaw Industries closes their plants during this time to do routine maintenance, but this years shut downs my be extended due to the downturn in the housing marker. Shaw Industries operates several plants in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama. Earlier this year the plant in Trenton was closed and in Ringgold the workforce at Shaw was cut by over 60 employees.
