Chief Investigator Larry Kellett with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department told AM 1180 that the Sheriff’s Department along with Department of Natural Recources officials wil continue the search for the missing teen in Trion throughout the night.

Kellett said that some better equipment has been brought in by the Department of Natural Recources and that better equiped boats may aid search and rescue for the missing teen.  Kellett said that the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department has not released the name of the missing teen.

Chattanooga news outlets have reported the name of the boy that they are saying is 14 years old.  Earlier today another teen was rescued from the flood waters.

It is not clear at this time why the young boys entered the raging flood waters around Tate Road in Trion, however some reports have indicated that they may have thought someone was trapped in a vehicle in the waters.

Sheriff John Everett told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio earlier this evening that while the search is continuing he is asking residents to respect the barriers that have been placed in the Tate Road area and elsewhere throughout the county.

AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will continue to follow the story and give you updates as they become available.
