A Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to the local Wal-Mart by loss prevention employees on Tuesday of this week after the report of a shoplifter.

When the deputy arrived and spoke with the Wal-Mart loss prevention clerk, she told the deputy that a customer was caught “skip scanning” in the self-checkout lane.  The amount of goods that were not scanned or paid for came to $42.54.   The incident was caught on Wal-Mart’s security camera.

Forty-six-year-old Erby Eugene Odell of a Williams Shortcut Road, Trion address was arrested for theft by shoplifting and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
