Chattooga County Director of Public Works Lamar Canada told AM 1180 earlier this week that the county is ready to begin work on Smallen Road in the southern end of the county but that he is waiting for good weather to start the job.  Canada said that he doesn’t want any unnecessary delays in the project from the weather that would force the road to be closed longer than necessary.  Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters echoed that sentiment when speaking with AM 1180 on Thursday.  The project is expected to take a couple of days as a large amount of rock must be hauled in to complete the work.  With rain in the forecast for most of next week, the Smallen Road project may be delayed further.
