Chattooga County Public Works is waiting to get started on the Smallen Road Project. The City of Summerville Utilities were re-routing some utility lines in the area in preperation for the road work. A tile on Smallen Road has gone bad causing the road to drop several inches.
Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 on Wednesday that the county does not want to start the project until everything is in place in order to avoid long delays with the road being closed to traffic. The weather has not cooperated much for road work over the past several weeks with the amount of rain Chattooga County has been seeing.
Commissioner Winters said work should begin sometime the first of next week.
