Everyone has an eye on the weather tonight as Northwest Georgia and Chattooga County are under a winter storm warning.  AM 1180 broadcast the warning from the National Weather Service around 3 PM this afternoon.

We spoke with Lamar Canada from Chattooga County Public Works this afternoon.  Mr. Canada said that crews are ready with salt trucks to take out on Chattooga County’s roadways should winter weather develop.

Right now the forecast is for around 1-3" of snow with higher amounts in the higher elevations.  The Weather Channel is saying that some parts of Chattooga County could see as much as 5" of snow depending on conditions.  Both the Weather Channel and The National Weather Service are saying a 100% chance of snow at least sometime tomorrow.

For now both local school sytems are watching the weather and plan to make any announcements about school tomorrow morning around 5:30 AM.  AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will sign on at 5:30 AM on Tuesday morning and keep you udpated on the latest developments.
