A Gordon County Soldier killed in Afghanistan last week was honored by U.S. Congressman Phil Gingrey on the floor of the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. Gingrey stated : “In addition to his great service to our nation and his community, John Blair was also a dedicated family man who was looking forward to spending quality time with his grandson when he returned home. What an amazing example of courage, selflessness, and love of country that Sergeant Blair provided, not only for his young grandson, but for all of us.”Blair, who was born in Hazard County Kentucky and later moved to Georgia, was honored by his native state as Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has ordered the flags at state buildings to be flown at half staff on the day of Blair’s interment. No funeral arrangements have been announced.
